Our Beliefs

Our Beliefs

The Bible

We believe the Bible is inspired by God, and is our guide in faith, in life, and in worship. We, therefore, do our very best to follow the teachings found in the Bible.

One God

We believe there is only one God who eternally exists as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

Baptism

We believe one must be baptized in order to become a disciple of Christ and to receive the forgiveness of sins. We also believe that baptism is accomplished by full immersion; every example of baptism in the New Testament was by full immersion, and the Greek word for baptism means full immersion. We further hold that only those who are mature enough to understand right from wrong and decide to follow Jesus can properly be baptized.

Communion

Scripture instructs us to meet on the first day of the week and take part in communion to remember the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross to forgive our sins. We follow the example of the early Christians and use unleavened bread and fruit of the vine (grape juice).

Singing

The Bible instructs us to sing and make music in our heart. Because the Bible tells us to sing and not to add to it, we sing without the use of musical instruments (acapella). One of the men of the congregation will lead the singing; the words and melody for the songs may come from a song book or projected on a screen for easier viewing.

Prayer

We believe that prayer is vital for our relationship with God. We pray publicly during our services and privately in our day-to-day lives.
